Meet Dr. Armine Movsisyan

Team > Dr. Armine Movsisyan

Dr. Movsisyan, a longtime educator and learner, is excited to join Vidya! She shares Vidya’s vision to transform how learners experience schools, from being passive consumers of information to being transformative producers in the world we live in. She is committed to serving communities and inspiring individuals to be self-empowered agents of change. She fosters cooperative leadership teams who utilize data to inform decisions with the best interest of students in mind. Upon immigrating from Armenia at a young age, she experienced first-hand the challenges students face and the lack of preparation in schools for life. These realities rooted a deep interest in the realm of education, how people interact, and learn which lead to her journey in the field.

Upon graduation, she began her career as a history and social science teacher in Santa Ana and the San Gabriel Valley. With each passing year Armine took on more leadership responsibilities and worked closely with fellow teachers, parents, staff and students to promote academic excellence, innovation and teamwork within the school community. During that time she served in both the public and private spheres in a variety of roles including Head of School, Principal, Academic Director and Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Armine earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California and received leadership training from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education and UCLA – UC Berkeley. Prior to her doctorate, she earned both her Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Master of Arts (MA) degrees in History & Global Cultures from the University of California, Irvine.
