Vidya is pleased to partner with Sandbox (www.sandbox4kids.com) to offer programming classes in the San Fernando Valley. Sandbox for Kids has been offering a cohesive computer education curriculum in the Conejo Valley for several years. Starting from elementary school, Sandbox progressively builds a child’s technology fluency. Sandbox offers an array of enrichment programs in robotics, electronics, computer programming, video game design, mobile app development, multimedia and productivity. These programs serve numerous schools and community centers in both Ventura and Los Angeles counties. Furthermore, Sandbox prepares and mentors students for various STEM competitions, merit badges and certifications.
At Vidya this summer, Sandbox will offer middle and high school students a flavor of modern computer programming through week-long in-person classes. In four weeks, students will learn:
- general-purpose programming with Python,
- mobile app development with Android Studio or iOS SDK,
- 3D Modeling and Animation with Autodesk Maya and
- game design with Unity engine
Experienced Sandbox staff provide hands-on training and guide students through their projects. Though computers are provided, we encourage students to bring their own laptops so that they have the tools to experiment and learn at home or on their vacation. Each of these four classes meet from 9am-noon, Mondays-Friday for a week (15 hours total per class). Classes are $295/week. For an additional $100/week, students can stay at Vidya in the afternoons to continue work on their projects.
